  • Everything You Need to Know About LEGO SMART Play

The LEGO Group has unveiled its most ambitious innovation in years: LEGO SMART Play, a system that transforms traditional LEGO building into interactive, responsive experiences. Launching on the 1st of March 2026, SMART Play combines advanced miniaturised technology with hands-on creativity, aiming to enhance physical play while encouraging screen-free engagement. The SMART Play system consists of three core elements: SMART Bricks, SMART Tags and SMART Minifigures. Together, these components communicate with each other to respond to movement, orientation, light and proximity. This revolutionary system, presented earlier this week at CES 2026, has been in development for nearly a decade, with hundreds of prototypes tested to ensure it remains intuitive, engaging and compatible with the LEGO System-in-Play. What is LEGO SMART Play? LEGO SMART Play is a platform of interactive LEGO elements that sense and respond to their environment and nearby pieces. It consists of three core components: SMART Bricks - The central interactive element. SMART Tags - Small 2x2 flat tiles that define objects, vehicles or activities. SMART Minifigures - Modified LEGO Minifigures with unique personalities that react to the world around them. The system is designed to be intuitive and easy to use, with no need for apps, hubs or setup. Instead, the elements communicate directly through a proprietary Bluetooth-based BrickNet protocol, which enables multiple SMART Bricks to sense one another and coordinate actions in real-time. LEGO SMART Bricks: The Heart of the System At the centre of LEGO SMART Play is the SMART Brick. This is a standard 2x4 LEGO brick that looks familiar, but underneath its translucent studs is a brick packed full of advanced technology. Inside, a custom 4.1mm ASIC chip powers the bespoke Play Engine, interpreting motion, tilt, orientation and magnetic fields in real time. The brick also contains LED lights, an accelerometer, a miniature speaker and a wireless charging coil. SMART Bricks use LEGO's BrickNet protocol, a Bluetooth-based system, to communicate with each other without the need for apps, hubs or external controllers. Using the Neghbour Position Measurement (NPM) system, bricks can detect the distance, direction and orientation of nearby SMART Bricks, allowing for interactive reactions such as lightsaber duels, vehicle engine noises and Minifigure responses. The internal battery is designed for longevity, remaining functional even after years of inactivity, and can be charged wirelessly alongside multiple bricks at once. This combination of features allows the SMART Brick to bring LEGO builds to life while remaining compatible with traditional LEGO sets. SMART Tags: Adding Context and Surprises SMART Tags are small 2x2 flat tiles that work with SMART Bricks to unlock unique behaviours and interactions. Each tag contains a digital ID, allowing bricks to recognise what they should become during play, triggering different sounds, lights, mini-games and plot twists. For example, placing a SMART Tag on a brick might make a car engine rev, a droid beep happily or unlock music in a LEGO Star Wars scene. SMART Minifigures: Characters That React SMART Minifigures look almost identical to standard LEGO Minifigures but carry internal chips that allow them to interact with SMART Bricks. Each Minfigure responds with sounds, moods and behaviours that are played through the brick's speaker. Interactions vary depending on the Minifigure and the surrounding environment. The Technology Behind SMART Play LEGO SMART Play is a world first in toy technology, integrating a combination of electronics, sensors, and software into a single LEGO brick. SMART Bricks contain custom ASIC chips, modular synthesisers for live audio, accelerometers, light sensors and wireless charging coils. The NPM system ensures precise brick-to-brick positioning, while the BrickNet network allows multiple bricks to communicate in real time without external devices. SMART Play in Action: A Scenario from CES One of the first real-world demonstrations of SMART Play at CES 2026 showed how immersive and responsive LEGO creations can become. In a brick-built LEGO car demo, a SMART Brick enabled the vehicle to: Trigger engine sounds, braking noises and crash effects based on collisions. Display dynamic coloured lights depending on the car's movement and position relative to other SMART Bricks. React to a SMART Minifigure, which could cry out when hit or celebrate when winning a race. This demonstration highlights LEGO's goal of enhancing play without replacing traditional building, encouraging imagination, storytelling and interactive experiences through SMART Play. The First LEGO SMART Play Star Wars Sets The launch of SMART Play is led by three LEGO Star Wars sets: 75421 Darth Vader's TIE Fighter  ($69.99 / €69.99 / £59.99) - 473 pieces 75423 Luke's Red Five X-Wing  ($89.99 / €89.99 / £79.99) - 584 pieces 75427 Throne Room Duel & A-Wing  ($159.99 / €159.99 / £139.99) - 962 pieces These sets will be available for pre-order from the 9th of January 2026, with a full launch, accompanied by even more galactic technology-driven sets, hitting shelves on the 1st of March 2026. Expanding LEGO SMART Play The LEGO Group have confirmed that SMART Play will expand beyond Star Wars, with additional sets and themes to be announced. The system is designed to evolve with new content, similar to the LEGO Super Mario theme, ensuring that interactive play continues to grow over time. The goal is to enhance traditional LEGO building without replacing it, encouraging screen-free, imaginative play while offering dynamic, responsive storytelling. So that's everything you need to know about the newly announced LEGO SMART Play system, but what do you think? What's your opinion of SMART Play and the SMART Brick? What kind of LEGO themes and sets would you like to see this technology in? Will this prove to be successful or another big flop like previous iterations of interactive technology in LEGO themes? • LEGO Icons 11375 Ferrari & Michael Schumacher Rumoured For March 2026

Two things that have been on the rise from the Danish toy manufacturer in recent years: 18+ models and Formula 1-branded sets. In 2026, we'll be seeing more of both, particularly with the release of 10375 Ferrari & Michael Schumacher on the 1st of March 2026. The set follows on from two previous LEGO Icons F1 models: 10330 McLaren F1 MP4/4 & Ayrton Senna in 2024, and this year's 10353 Williams Racing FW14B & Nigel Mansell . Ferrari and LEGO have a long history, and having already tackled historic F1 cars from McLaren and Williams, it's no surprise that the LEGO Icons is now tackling Formula 1's most historic team and one of the greatest drivers ever. Michael Schumacher himself will be included as an exclusive LEGO Minifigure in 11375, which includes 735 pieces retailing for a slightly higher price at $89.99 / €89.99 / £79.99 than the previously mentioned McLaren and Williams. There's currently no confirmation as to which Ferrari F1 car will be recreated as a LEGO Icons display model in a 1:13 scale. Current contenders include the Ferrari F1-2000 which Michael won his first world title for Ferrari in and which was the constructor's first world championship for 21 years. The 18+ model could also be the F2002, with which Schumacher finished on the podium at every race that season or the F2004, which the German driver took to the step of the podium 13 times. Either way, we will be getting an iconic and championship Ferrari F1 car in brick-built LEGO form. The cleverly designed car will include the iconic Ferrari red, along with further details from the livery of whichever car is represented. The whole model will sit on a grey adjustable display stand that also contains a printed information plaque about the iconic Italian vehicle. 11375 Ferrari & Michael Schumacher Set Name - Ferrari & Michael Schumacher Set Number - 11375 Age Range - 18+ Piece Count - 735 Price - $89.99 / €89.99 / £79.99 Release Date - 1st March 2026 11375 Ferrari & Michael Schumacher releases on the 1st of March 2026, but what do you think? • LEGO Star Wars 75427 Throne Room Duel & A-Wing Officially Revealed | March 2026

One of the most iconic and memorable moments from the original Star Wars trilogy returns to brick-built LEGO form, but this time in the most interactive and play-driven way yet. That's right, the third and final LEGO Star Wars SMART Play set officially revealed at CES 2026 is 75427 Throne Room Duel & A-Wing. The 9+ model is the biggest Star Wars set releasing on the 1st of March 2026, including 962 pieces retailing for a whopping $159.99 / €159.99 / £139.99. The central build of 75427 is a recreation of the Emperor's Throne Room from Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. With the help of LEGO's cleverly designed SMART Play system, various technology-packed characters can be posed and play out the final lightsaber duel between Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader. The set's layout is wide and horizontally oriented, with platforms and space to stage the different interactions. At the back of the set is the detailed throne room itself with Palpatine's spinning black chair and space for his two guards to stand next to him. This is then attached to the main duel area, which is portrayed as a large round platform with long axles used to make the LEGO Minifigures duel. The $160 set includes a further two builds of a Death Star II turret and an A-Wing with space for a single LEGO Minifigure to pilot. This could be one of six Minifigures included in the 9+ model of the returning SMART Darth Vader, a different variation of SMART Luke Skywalker, SMART Emperor Palpatine and three standard figures of an A-Wing Pilot and two Royal Guards. Being an all-in-one LEGO SMART Play playset, 75427 includes the standard technology-driven features of SMART Bricks, SMART Tags and a yellow charging dock. In fact, the Throne Room Duel & A-Wing includes two SMART Bricks, which will be able to interact with a further five SMART Tags. Placed throughout the set, these tags will result in Lightsaber hums, the engine roar of the A-Wing and even a rendition of The Imperial March with Emperor Palpatine sitting on his throne. 75427 Throne Room Duel & A-Wing Set Name - Throne Room Duel & A-Wing Set Number - 75427 Age Range - 9+ Piece Count - 962 Price - $159.99 / €159.99 / £139.99 Release Date - 1st March 2026 75427 Throne Room Duel & A-Wing releases on the 1st of March 2026, but what do you think? • LEGO Star Wars 75423 Luke’s Red Five X-Wing Officially Revealed | March 2026

The galaxy plays back in 2026 as LEGO Star Wars is the first theme to debut LEGO's latest technology of the SMART Play system. Along with 75421 Darth Vader's TIE Fighter, 75423 Luke’s Red Five X-Wing has also been revealed ahead of its 1st of March 2026. Just like the TIE Fighter, the X-Wing combines lights, sounds, sensors, scannable tags, and wireless charging to create a responsive, hybrid play experience in this all-in-one LEGO SMART Play playset. 584 pieces retailing for $89.99 / €89.99 / £79.99 recreate the latest brick-built version of X-Wing with its signature red and white colour scheme and what looks to be a brand new piece for the cockpit. Additional builds can also be found with the ship: an Imperial Turret, a transporter, and a command centre. Multiple stud shooters can be found on the imperial turret, whilst a yellow ladder is also attached to the X-Wing, which can fit both R2-D2 and Luke. Luke Skywalker himself is included as a LEGO SMART Play Minifigure alongside Princess Leia. R2-D2 is not a SMART figure but does include a SMART Tag, resulting in a new body element to incorporate this digital play feature. Two further standard LEGO Minifigures of a Rebel crew member and a Stormtrooper are also included in the 6+ model. Away from the physical LEGO building elements, 75423 is packed full of SMART Play features and accessories. The SMART Brick once again makes an appearance alongside the previously mentioned SMART Minifigures and five SMART Tags. These can be found on the X-wing, Imperial turret, transporter, command centre and R2-D2, resulting in laser-shooting sounds, engine sounds and lights, plus refuelling and repair sounds. 75423 Luke's Red Five X-Wing Set Name - Luke's Red Five X-Wing Set Number - 75423 Age Range - 6+ Piece Count - 584 Price - $89.99 / €89.99 / £79.99 Release Date - 1st March 2026 75423 Luke's Red Five X-Wing releases on the 1st of March 2026, but what do you think? • 2 LEGO Star Wars Smart Play Sets Rumoured For January 2026 | 75421 + 75423

LEGO Smart Play will be the main gimmick in 2026 for the LEGO Group, and so it's no surprise that one of LEGO's best-selling themes will be seeing multiple sets released with the Smart Play technology integrated. The first LEGO Star Wars Smart Play sets are expected to release on the 1st of January 2025, alongside a further eight brand new models which range from the usual brick-built characters and playsets to further 18+ midi-scale starships. The two LEGO Star Wars Smart Play sets are 75421 Darth Vader's TIE Advanced and 75423 Luke's Red Five X-Wing. Both, even for LEGO Star Wars standards, are expensive, with the latter of the two models including just 584 pieces retailing for $99.99 / €99.99 / £89.99. This is mainly because 2026's version of Luke's iconic Red Five X-Wing will include the Smart Brick, combining lights, sounds, sensors, scannable tags, and wireless charging to create a responsive, hybrid play experience. The Smart Brick will be located in the rear of the X-Wing, with the rest of the build being very similar to previous brick-built interpretations of the ship. The signature red and white colour scheme is obviously included along with a couple of stud shooters, rotating engines and what could possibly be a brand new cockpit piece. Luke Skywalker should be included as a Minifigure along with R2-D2, with both characters possibly being compatible with the Smart Brick. The smaller of the two sets, meanwhile, recreates Darth Vader's iconic black TIE Advanced starfighter in a similar kid-friendly scale. With a slightly lower retail price of $69.99 / €69.99 / £59.99, it's unknown whether or not another Smart Brick will be included with 75421 or if it will just include compatible Minifigures and elements within the build to be combined with 75423. Either way, the sleek, angular cockpit of the TIE Advanced will have enough room for the ever-present Darth Vader LEGO Minifigure . 75421 Darth Vader's TIE Advanced Set Name - Darth Vader's TIE Advanced Set Number - 75421 Age Range - 7+ Piece Count - 473 Price - $69.99 / €69.99 / £59.99 Release Date - 1st January 2026 75423 Luke's Red Five X-Wing Set Name - Luke's Red Five X-Wing Set Number - 75423 Age Range - 7+ Piece Count - 584 Price - $99.99 / €99.99 / £89.99 Release Date - 1st January 2026 Both of these LEGO Star Wars Smart Play sets are rumoured to be releasing on the 1st of January 2026, but what do you think? Will you be purchasing either model in a few months time? What's your opinion on the rumoured integration of LEGO Smart Play across multiple themes and sets in 2026? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments below.

  • What to Expect from LEGO Pokémon in 2026?

As we officially begin 2026, it's another massive 12 months for the LEGO Group as it debuts one of the most anticipated licensed themes of all time: LEGO Pokémon . The gaming and anime-based LEGO line was first announced in March 2025, with the first sets anticipated to release in late February. Since this official announcement and teaser, we've had no further confirmation from LEGO themselves regarding the brand new theme. However, reliable sources from the community have shared set names, builds, characters, locations and more that we can expect in brick-built LEGO form throughout 2026... Large & Expensive 18+ Models The debut wave of LEGO Pokémon will appeal to older LEGO fans, further increasing the number of sets dedicated to adult fans of LEGO. In particular, three LEGO Pokémon 18+ branded sets will be releasing on the 27th of February 2026, recreating some iconic Pokémon characters in an entirely brick-built LEGO form. Out of the three models, 72153 is the biggest and most expensive, with a whopping 6,838 pieces retailing for $649.99 / €649.99  / £549.99. Likely one of the biggest sets in 2026, it recreates the Kanto starters of Bulbasaur, Squirtle and Charmander in brick-built LEGO form. The most iconic and loved Pokémon, Pikachu, will also be available as an 18+ display model alongside Eevee will with her primarily brown fur and fox-like shape Smart Play, Smart Play & Smart Play LEGO Smart Play will be the main buzzword, gimmick and selling point of 2026, appearing across LEGO’s entire portfolio, spanning from 4+ Friends  sets to Technic , as well as licensed themes including Pokémon , Star Wars , and Animal Crossing . LEGO Star Wars will be the first theme to get Smart Play sets, with a wave releasing on the 1st of March 2026, but this will be swiftly followed by Smart Play LEGO Pokémon in the summer. Current rumours suggest that up to 15 sets, all Smart Play branded, will be releasing for the licensed theme on the 1st of August 2026. These technology-driven sets will include the likes of LED lighting and sounds, sensors and scanable tags, electronic Minifigures and wireless charging, all centred around the Smart Brick. This brand new and highly intelligent brick will be available in just a few of the 15 sets, including 72164 Pikachu's Training House, which includes a much smaller and simpler brick-built version of the iconic Pokémon, along with an appropriately themed house. LEGO BrickHeadz Take Over The LEGO BrickHeadz theme will be full of licenses in 2026, from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Gremlins to the focus of this article: LEGO Pokémon . Whilst nothing is confirmed, it's almost certain that at least one LEGO Pokémon -branded BrickHeadz will launch in 2026, likely recreating another brick-built version of Pikachu and fellow popular characters such as Charmander, Bulbasaur and Squirtle. The Biggest Question of them all - Minifigures? While most of the content in this article is unconfirmed by the LEGO Group, the question of LEGO Pokémon Minifigures is even unknown amongst LEGO leakers. LEGO aren't afraid to avoid Minifigures in themes, whether that's through the use of minidolls, 18+ brick-built figures or digfigs with the LEGO Super Mario theme. We're already expecting an array of brick-built characters from the second-ever LEGO anime theme, but hopefully, the LEGO Smart Play -branded sets include a couple of figures too. An entire LEGO Pokémon Minifigure series would be even better, especially as the third and final series for 2026 is currently unknown... • Every LEGO Star Wars Smart Play Minifigure Rumoured For March 2026

With LEGO Smart Play officially debuting in the LEGO Star Wars theme on the 1st of March 2026, attention is naturally turning toward the Smart Play Minifigures included across the rumoured wave of eight sets. Unlike traditional LEGO Minifigures , Smart Play figures will feature integrated electronic components, permanently attached torso and leg elements, and internal sensors allowing them to interact with Smart Bricks and Smart Tags. While these technology-driven Minifigures will visually resemble standard LEGO Star Wars characters, their construction and function will be notably different. Based on how the LEGO Group has described Smart Play and how similar technology works in LEGO Super Mario , here's an overview and breakdown of how each rumoured Star Wars Smart Play Minifigure may look and function... Farm Luke Skywalker Set: 75420 Luke's Landspeeder Farm Luke is expected to wear his familiar white Tatooine tunic, light coloured trousers and brown boots, paired with the standard Luke Skywalker hairpiece rather than a helmet, for example. Visually, this Smart Play version should closely resemble previous Farm Luke Minifigures, though the torso and legs will be permanently together to house internal electronics. Darth Vader Set: 75421 Darth Vader's TIE Advanced Smart Darth Vader will almost certainly retain his iconic black armour, flowing cape and dual moulded helmet. Due to the electronic components inside this figure, Darth Vader's cape may be slightly altered to ensure no interference with any sensors and that the figure can interact with the Smart Brick included in 75421 Darth Vader's TIE Advanced. Degobah Luke Skywalker Set: 75422 Degobah Training This version of Luke is expected to wear his sleeveless training outfit in tan alongside his usually messy hairpiece to reflect his time training on Dagobah. Smart Dagobah Luke may interact with Smart Bricks and Smart Tags by triggering training-related responses and activating environmental effects within Yoda's hut. Yoda Set: 75422 Degobah Training Smart Yoda will include the usual specially moulded head and ears of the Star Wars character, along with a tan robe design. It'll be interesting to see how LEGO are able to integrate the Smart Play technology within a figure with smaller legs that, like all Minifigures in this list, is permanently attached to the torso. Pilot Luke Skywalker Set: 75423 Luke's Red Five X-Wing Pilot Luke is expected to appear in his classic orange Rebel flight suit with white flask vest printing and a helmet with printed visor details. Functionally, this Smart Minifigure will likely be tightly integrated with the X-Wing's Smart Brick, triggering flight sounds, weapon effects or alert style responses when seated in the cockpit or moved during play. Princess Leia Set: 75423 Luke's Red Five X-Wing Smart Princess Leia is expected to appear in her classic white gown, with printed detailing kept clean and minimal like previous iterations of the character. Compared to Pilot Luke, she will react and function very differently in 75423, likely interacting more closely with the small rebel build included in the $100 model. Scout Trooper Set: 75424 AT-ST The Smart Scout Trooper is likely to use the standard Scout Trooper helmet piece with black and white armour printing. Due to the Smart Play components, the torso and legs will again be permanently attached. This figure, like all figures in this list, will also be heavier than standard LEGO Minifigures and wirelessly rechargeable like all LEGO Smart Play components. Greedo Set: 75425 Mos Eisley Cantina The male Rodian bounty hunter Greedo is another character coming in March as a LEGO Smart Play Minifigure. Greedo will include his classic head mould along with his printed orange vest and mainly blue outfit and legs. Functionally, Greedo may activate cantina-style sound effects when placed near Smart Tags in the 666-piece build. Han Solo Set: 75426 Millennium Falcon Smart Play Han Solo is expected to appear in his classic tan shirt, black vest and dark blue trousers, with detailed torso printing like previous iterations of the Star Wars character. Hans' figure will likely be one of the primary Smart Trioggers within the Millennium Falcon, activating cockpit-related responses such as engine sounds and light speed functions. Chewbacca Set: 75426 Millennium Falcon Smart Chewbacca will likely be identical to previous LEGO Minifigure versions of Chewy, but with the Smart Play defining features: permanently attached legs, wirelessly rechargeable and underarm printed warnings. Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader & Emperor Palpatine Set: 75427 Throne Room Duel All three of these Smart Play Minifigures are included in the biggest LEGO Star Wars Smart Play set of 75427 Throne Room Duel. These figures, all based on their Return of the Jedi appearances, will likely be the most advanced Smart Play Minifigures in the wave. They will be interacting heavily with numerous Smart Tags, two Smart Bricks and each other, which are all included in the $149.99 / €149.99 / £129.99 set. LEGO Smart Play is the main selling point of 2026, with numerous Star Wars characters getting the 'Smart' treatment, but what do you think? Which Smart Play Minifigure are you most curious about? Do you think this technology adds meaningful play value, or do you prefer traditional LEGO Minifigures ? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments below.

  • LEGO BrickHeadz 2026 Rumours: TMNT, Gremlins, Monsters Inc, Pokémon and More!

From staple brands such as Star Wars and Harry Potter to new licenses such as Transformers and Stranger Things, the LEGO BrickHeadz theme has had another action-packed 12 months, but in 2026, the theme gets another huge year. This is because, thanks to the ever-reliable Brick Tap Discord server, a list of several new and returning licenses is rumoured to be making their way into the blocky, collectable series of BrickHeadz. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles It's been over a decade since we last saw the entertainment franchise first created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, but in 2026, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles return to brick-built LEGO form. Similar to Looney Tunes, for example, this looks to be the one and only Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles-based set coming next year, but with the LEGO Icons theme continuing to expand its portfolio, who knows what the future may hold... In the meantime, current reports suggest that a four-pack branded Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles LEGO BrickHeadz will be releasing at some point in 2026. Obviously, this points towards the four anthropomorphic turtle brothers of Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo, each brick-built and displayed on the classic black display stand of BrickHeadz figures. Gremlins The Gremlins franchise has just made its debut in brick-built LEGO form with the LEGO Ideas set of 21361 Gremlins: Gizmo , but will very quickly be returning in 2026. This time, we'll see a character from the 1984 American black comedy horror in BrickHeadz form, and it will most likely once again be Gizmo. The immortal Mogwai will be a lot cheaper and smaller but still just as expressive, kind and adorable as the characters' movie counterpart. Monsters Inc. Monsters Inc. is a rare Disney Pixar movie to have never been covered by the Danish toy manufacturers before. However, all that will be changing in 2026, starting with at least one LEGO BrickHeadz set based on the popular animated film. We expect the two main characters of Mike and Sulley, along with possibly the main antagonist, Randall Boggs, and Boo, who accidentally gets into the monster world. Angel from Stitch With the recent release of the live-action Lilo & Stitch film, the cute and mischievous Stitch has never been more popular, and so it's no surprise that a brand new LEGO BrickHeadz model based on the franchise will be released next year. This time, we'll see a blocky brick-built version of Stitch's girlfriend, Angel, with her iconic pink look and long antennas. Spider-Man We all know how much LEGO loves Spider-Man, and with the toy brand's recent focus on the Spider-Verse films, it's no surprise that we'll be getting another Spider-Man BrickHeadz figure in 2026. Exactly which Spider-Man, from what movie or comic, is currently unknown. There's also the possibility that Spider-Man refers to a character from one of the movies or comics, for example, the likes of Green Goblin or Sandman, which have become iconic villains from the franchise. Pokémon And finally, perhaps the biggest headline of all on this list is the fact that LEGO Pokémon is also set to be taking over the LEGO BrickHeadz line of sets. It's already rumoured that a large-scale version of Pikachu will be releasing next year, and now we can also expect a much smaller BrickHeadz version to be available in a few months. The likes of Charmander, Bulbasaur and Squirtle will likely also follow suit in this brick-built form. Those are the current rumours for the LEGO BrickHeadz theme in 2026, but what do you think? Which license are you looking forward to the most? What characters do you want to see from each of these franchises in brick-built LEGO form? What other LEGO BrickHeadz sets are you looking forward to in 2026? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments below.

  • LEGO Pokémon Smart Play Pikachu Rumoured For August 2026

Each day we get ever closer to 2026, and with that, we get ever closer to the launch of possibly one of the most anticipated licensed LEGO themes since the initial release of LEGO Star Wars back in 1999. We've already covered the rumours of three sets launching on the 27th of February 2026 to debut the LEGO Pokémon theme, but the Summer of 2026 will be even more action-packed as a reported 17 sets will be released during this timeframe. Of these 17 sets, it's expected that the latest license in LEGO's ever-growing portfolio will feature heavily with LEGO Smart Play . The Smart Play initiative for 2026 and the revolutionary LEGO Smart Brick are an evolution of LEGO Super Mario  technology, combining lights, sounds, sensors, scannable tags, and wireless charging to create a responsive, hybrid play experience. We've already reported that LEGO Star Wars will be getting two Smart Play sets in January , and the LEGO Pokémon will quickly follow suit with another brick-built Pikachu. This time, however, it will be much smaller than the rumoured 18+ model of 72152 Pikachu & Poké Ball and will obviously be fully compatible with the brand new Smart Play system. In fact, the buildable Pikachu will come with the dynamic Smart Brick itself, which LEGO are describing as "the smartest LEGO brick we’ve ever built." The Smart Brick will be built into the buildable Pikachu, which is about the same size, possibly slightly larger than an average LEGO BrickHeadz figure. Pikachu obviously includes his bright yellow colour scheme with plenty of tiles and rounded elements to give the Pokémon's body a smooth, compact form. The head in particular is very cubed-shaped and includes some exclusive printing of Pikachu's black eyes, along with his expressive open mouth and red circles on his cheeks. There's even more personality in the brick-built figure with Pikachu's articulated limbs. His yellow and black ears can move along with the character's small yellow arms. The iconic lightning-shaped tail will also have some slight movement and will be the same build as we saw in the original announcement back in March . But of course, most of the personality and playability will come with the LEGO Smart Brick, which will also unfortunately increase the price of this rumoured August 2026 model... This rumoured LEGO Pokémon Smart Play Pikachu reportedly releases in August 2026, but what do you think? Are you happy to see the brand new LEGO Pokémon targeting both adults and kids? What do you think of the LEGO Smart Play system? What other LEGO Pokémon sets and characters would you like to see in 2026? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments below.

New year and a new LEGO Easter set?! That's right, the LEGO Group have officially revealed a brand new Easter branded model, releasing on the 1st of February 2026. In particular, this is 40957 Spring Wreath, which, alongside the already available 40863 Easter Egg Basket , will be celebrating the cultural holiday in 2026 with 747 pieces retailing for a currently unknown price. The 12+ model is somewhat more of a spring rather than Easter based set, recreating a seasonal wreath in brick-built LEGO form. The Danish toy manufacturer has already produced many Christmas wreaths and a Halloween wreath , but this Spring Wreath is the most colourful and vibrant LEGO wreath yet. The base of the wreath includes plenty of shades of green along with botanical hints of yellow, purple, pink and white. Some of the leaf decorations can also be replaced with brick-built Easter egg decorations, adding further colour to the 2026 model.
