  • Mattel Brick Shop Expands Hot Wheels Line with Lamborghini, Aston Martin and Toyota

Mattel has officially announced a major expansion to its Mattel Brick Shop lineup, adding three well-known automotive brands of Lamborghini, Aston Martin and Toyota to its growing collection of brick-built Hot Wheels vehicles. Announced at the Nuremberg International Toy Fair, the expansion signifies Mattel's intent to capture the "Kidult" market that LEGO has continued to dominate for years. Unlike standard plastic-only builds, Mattel is leaning into its Hot Wheels heritage to offer some distinctive features which LEGO currently doesn't. For example, Mattel Brick Shop incorporates real metal parts into its sets for a more authentic automotive feel. The Brick Shop also heavily focuses on customisability and modding stock cars into custom builds so that each vehicle is a showcase-worthy model. "Mattel Brick Shop was created to provide adult collectors and automotive enthusiasts a unique way to engage with their favourite vehicles through immersive, hands-on building and collecting", said Ted Wu, Global Head of Vehicles and Building Sets at Mattel. "With Lamborghini, Aston Martin, and Toyota joining the lineup, we’re continuing to expand the Mattel Brick Shop garage to include some of the most iconic names in automotive design and history in a tailored and reimagined way." Previous collaborations have included models from Audi , Mercedes-Benz , Chevrolet and Honda , with three more automakers with unique heritage, identity and design language now joining the lineup in 2026. While specific models and pricing have not yet been revealed, the sets will be available globally through major retailers such as Amazon , Smyths, The Entertainer and directly via Mattel Creations . This move feels like a direct response to LEGO's selection of brick-built licensed cars in both the LEGO Speed Champions and LEGO Technic themes. By integrating metal parts and the Hot Wheels branding, Mattel is betting that adult fans want something that feels less like a "toy" and more like a "model kit". Overall, Mattel securing these licenses for more brick-based products suggests much more aggressive competition for shelf space in 2026. Mattel Brick Shop expands its product line in 2026 with Hot Wheels vehicles inspired by Lamborghini, Aston Martin and Toyota, but what do you think? Will these three iconic brands further increase the popularity of Mattel Brick Shop ? Do you own any of the previous Mattel Brick Shop sets? • LEGO Officially Teases 72050 Mario Kart - Luigi & Mach 8 Kart For April 2026

Another kart has been teased to join the brick-built grid in 2026, and no, it's not a brand-new Italian gaming Formula 1 team, but a companion to last year's extremely popular 72037 Mario Kart - Mario & Standard Kart . In particular, the LEGO Group have taken to social media to showcase a small clip and hint of the first LEGO Super Mario model of 2026: 72050 Mario Kart - Luigi & Mach 8 Kart. The latest 18+ set for the licensed gaming theme releases on the 1st of April 2026, retailing for $10 more than 2025's 72037 at $179.99 / €179.99 / £159.99. The teaser is only a few seconds long, but it clearly shows a brick-built version of Luigi driving his Mach 8 kart, which first appears in the Wii U's Mario Kart 8. Only a small section of the build is actually showcased, but being located right next to brick-built Mario and his Standard Kart gives us an idea of the size difference between the two plumbers and their vehicles. The build for Luigi will be very similar to Mario from 72037, but with obvious differences in the character's face and clothing. Luigi will have a longer and slightly thinner face, still complete with printed eyes, a large printed L on his green hat and his iconic mustache which is again slightly different to his brothers'. The plumber turned racer will then be complete with his green and dark blue dungarees, yellow buttons, brown shoes and white gloves. Again, like Mario, Luigi will be permanently seated in his brick-built LEGO kart, but there will be movement in his face, arms and hands to recreate the signature cheering pose. The kart build perfectly recreates the Mach 8, which resembles both a jet with a turbine-shaped grille and a Formula 1 car from the 1950s. Coloured in its usual mix of blue and yellow, the vehicle looks larger and more sturdy than Mario's Standard Kart, with the wheels in particular being especially big. 72050 Mario Kart - Luigi & Mach 8 Kart Set Name - Mario Kart - Luigi & Mach 8 Kart Set Number - 72050 Age Range - 18+ Piece Count - TBC Price - $179.99 / €179.99 / £159.99 Release Date - 1st April 2026 72050 Mario Kart - Luigi & Mach 8 Kart releases on the 1st of April 2026, but what do you think? • LEGO Icons 11384 Golden Retriever Puppy Officially Revealed | February 2026

Brick-built LEGO animals continue to grow in popularity and creativity, from the LEGO Creator 3-in-1  theme producing a stunning yet simple range each year to the LEGO Disney  line releasing play-friendly and adult-oriented models. In 2026, however, the LEGO Icons  theme is joining the animal fun with an entirely brick-built version of a Golden Retriever Puppy, releasing under the set number 11384. The Golden Retriever is a popular dog breed from Great Britain, often known for its hunting abilities and on the 1st of February, it will also be known for its brick-built interpretation. With 2,102 pieces retailing for $139.99 / €139.99 / £119.99, today's official images showcase how this LEGO Puppy is a perfect companion for 21349 Tuxedo Cat  from the LEGO Ideas  theme and last year's 43269 101 Dalmatians Puppy , which included plenty of posability and customisation. The 18+ build creatively mimics the curves of a real dog's body with a central internal structure/skeleton built using LEGO Technic  beams to support the overall weight and shape of the dog. Around this core, layers of standard LEGO bricks flesh out the chest, belly and hindquarters in mainly tan coloured pieces. The head of the Golden Retriever is a focal point of 11384 to capture the puppy's cute, friendly and playful look in LEGO form. Angled pieces form the muzzle and forehead with a unique blend of elements utilised to represent the puppy's black eyes, black nose and drooping ears. Underneath the entirely posable and extremely detailed head of the puppy is its turquoise collar with a yellow dog tag as a round tile with a printed bone symbol. While the dog is mainly showcased in its "sit" position, with its hind legs bent and front paws extended, one of the front paws can be attached and reattached at a different angle. This is thanks to LEGO Technic axles, resulting in the "give paw" position, which also reveals the typical dog paw print underneath the golden retriever's brick-built paws. Further customisability can be found in its mouth, which, along with the ability to open and close, can include a tongue by adding on some extra elements included in the 2,102-piece set. 11384 Golden Retriever Puppy Set Name - Golden Retriever Puppy Set Number - 11384 Age Range - 18+ Piece Count - 2,102 Price - $139.99 / €139.99 / £129.99 Release Date - 1st February 2026 11384 Golden Retriever Puppy releases on the 1st of February 2026, but what do you think? • LEGO The Legend of Zelda 77093 Ocarina of Time - The Final Battle Officially Revealed | March 2026

2026 is another big year for LEGO's gaming themes, whilst the likes of LEGO Animal Crossing and LEGO Super Mario take a step back, LEGO Pokémon is debuting to the excitement of many fans and LEGO The Legend of Zelda returns following the success of September 2024's 77092 Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 . Releasing on the 1st of March 2026, the second-ever LEGO Zelda model is entirely focused on the Ocarina of Time rather than 77092's 2-in-1 set featuring both the Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild. 77093 Ocarina of Time - The Final Battle includes a total of 1,003 pieces retailing for $129.99 / €119.99 / £99.99 to create a compact, display-focused model rather than a large playset like the Deku Tree. Instead, 77093 is similar to previous LEGO 18+ dioramas, particularly those seen in the LEGO Star Wars  theme, for example. The build itself recreates the climactic final battle from the classic Nintendo 64 game in brick-built LEGO form. Built on a simple black base, the scene is surrounded by rubble, collapsed walls and a tower to recreate the extraordinary battle between Link and Ganondorf and the dramatic collapse of Ganon's Tower. Plenty of flames and uneven rubble can be uncovered to find three recovery hearts and help Link in this epic brick-built confrontation. Away from all the rubble and background, the main antagonist Ganon takes centre stage as a large brick-built figure. He includes plenty of posability along with two large golden swords. A LEGO Minifigure version of Ganon, also known as Ganondorf, is also included in the 18+ model to recreate the moment the evil king unexpectedly leaps out of the rubble of the collapsed castle and actually turns into Ganon. Link also returns alongside an exclusive Princess Zelda to complete the Minifigure lineup. These characters come with plenty of iconic accessories from the game, including the Master Sword, the Megaton Hammer, the Hylian Shield, and two textile capes. A transparent build representing Navi the fairy completes the 2026 model, which measures over 6 inches (17cm) high, 11 inches (29cm) wide and 7 inches (18cm) deep. 77093 Ocarina of Time - The Final Battle Set Name - Ocarina of Time - The Final Battle Set Number - 77093 Age Range - 18+ Piece Count - 1,003 Price - $129.99 / €119.99 / £99.99 Release Date - 1st March 2026 77093 Ocarina of Time - The Final Battle releases on the 1st of March 2026, but what do you think? • LEGO The Legend of Zelda 77093 Ocarina of Time Ganondorf Diorama Rumoured For March 2026

Whilst 2026 looks to be dominated by the brand new technology LEGO Smart Play and the introduction of Pokémon to the brand's ever-expanding portfolio, another gaming license will be returning next year. In particular, LEGO The Legend of Zelda will be hitting shelves once again following the success of September 2024's 77092 Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 . On the 1st of March 2026, however, the Zelda model will be entirely focused on the Ocarina of Time rather than 77092's 2-in-1 set featuring both the Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild. 77093 Ocarina of Time Ganondorf Diorama includes a total of 1,003 pieces to create a compact, display-focused set rather than a large playset like the Deku Tree. Instead, 77093 will be similar to previous LEGO 18+ dioramas, particularly those seen in the LEGO Star Wars theme, for example. The build itself will recreate one of Ocarina of Time's many iconic moments involving the main antagonist, Ganondorf. These could range from a brick-built interpretation of Ganondorf's throne room in Ganon's Castle to the final battle between Link and Ganondorf and the dramatic collapse of Ganon's Tower. Alternatively, the LEGO Group may create a brick-built interpretation of a more obscure scene from the 1998 action-adventure game. Ganondorf playing the organ would recreate one of the most atmospheric scenes in Ocarina of Time, whilst the Sacred Realm duel would make a striking and unique display model. Either way, we can expect to see some form of Ganondorf in brick-built LEGO form, along with another iconic location from the ever-popular Legend of Zelda franchise. 77093 Ocarina of Time Ganondorf Diorama Set Name - Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 Set Number - 77093 Age Range - 18+ Piece Count - 1,003 Price - $TBC / €TBC / £TBC Release Date - 1st March 2026 77093 Ocarina of Time Ganondorf Diorama releases on the 1st of March 2026, but what do you think?
