Everything You Need to Know About LEGO Disney 43301 Slinky Dog Bookends | May 2026

As the anticipation for Toy Story 5 continues to build ahead of its cinematic release this summer, the LEGO Group is diving back into Andy's toy box for a unique addition to the LEGO Disney lineup. Releasing on the 1st of May 2025, 43301 Slinky Dog Bookends offers an 18+ building experience that combines a brick-built recreation of an iconic Pixar character with some LEGO home decor.

Following the release of 43300 Winnie The Pooh, 43301 Slinky Dog Bookends will be the second LEGO Disney 18+ model of 2026. However, it definitely won't be the last as anticipation continues to build for 43302 Disney Main Street, which is scheduled for this Summer. But returning to the brick-built Bookend, here's everything you need to know about one of five LEGO Toy Story sets releasing this Spring...

The Important Details

Following earlier rumours of a 'Book Nook', it is now confirmed that 43301 does, in fact, recreate a pair of functional bookends, capturing the iconic silhouette of the loyal dashshund Slinky Dog. The adult-oriented set includes a total of 1,311 pieces and two LEGO Minifigures, retailing for $149.99 / €149.99 / £129.99.

As we've already mentioned, 43301 Slinky Dog Bookends releases on the 1st of May 2026, where it's expected to be accompanied by at least three more Toy Story-branded LEGO builds. These include 43304 Toy Story: Wild West, 43306 Lots-o'-Huggin' Bear and 43307 Alien Pizza Planet Rocket Ride. A brand new Toy Story LEGO BrickHeadz set is also expected to be released a month later on the 1st of June 2026.

The Build

The set itself is a literal brick-built interpretation of Slinky Dog, cleverly split into two halves which can remain as two or be combined into the full version of Slinky. Each half is integrated into a brick-built book base, providing the stability needed to hold real books in place. The two books are of varying heights, thickness and colours, with the larger, thicker one being purple and pink, while the other one includes variations of the colour blue.

The front half of the bookend focuses on Slinky's expressive head, shoulders and front paws. The Pixar character includes an entirely brick-built movable face with printed eyes, a brown nose, a mouth that can be opened and closed, along with fabric elements for Slinky's ears. The dog's front paws can also be moved with the rest of the front half of the body, including the first half of the iconic silver spring.

The rest of the silver spring can be found attached to the rear half of the display piece. Here, the focus shifts to Slink's hindquarters and his thin, upright tail. Once again, the back paws will have plenty of movement and posability, allowing 43301 Slinky Dog Bookends to be displayed in various ways.

Finally, the build for the two books includes some hidden compartments, similar to what was seen in last year's 75691 Glinda & Elphaba Bookends. Here, builders will be able to place and store the two LEGO Minifigures included in the 2026 model, along with uncovering various Toy Story Easter eggs in brick-built LEGO form.

Minifigure Lineup

43301 Slinky Dog Bookends includes two characters to make up the value of the $150 set. These are Woody, who is the exact same as his most recent appearance in 40774 Classic Animation Scenes GWP and our first ever Minifigure scale version of Slinky Dog. The reliable leaker Unibricks on Instagram reports that Slinky will be made from two pieces with a rubber middle representing the iconic spring.

Gift With Purchase?

A question which is commonly asked with every major LEGO release, particularly 18+ models, is whether there will be a Gift With Purchase? Current rumours suggest that we unfortunately won't be receiving a brand new promotional item alongside 43301 Slinky Dog Bookends in May. However, as the LEGO Group continues to focus the LEGO Disney theme on Toy Story 5, we wouldn't be surprised to see a possible Toy Story GWP in the future or exclusive offers from the official LEGO store and LEGO shop@home.
