LEGO Ideas 21369 X-Files Rumoured For August 2026

It's been a while since we last had a LEGO Ideas reveal, with the last official presentation for the theme taking place in March with 21367 Tintin Moon Rocket. But thankfully, following the release of 21368 Peanuts: Snoopy's Doghouse, the 18+ theme is expected to release a total of three sets in August - almost doubling the total number of Ideas sets released so far in 2026.
The first of these which we're looking at is 21369 X-Files, originally designed by Brent Waller (WetWired), but will be appearing as an official LEGO set on the 1st of August 2026, having won the 90s Throwback Challenge. The 18+ model includes just 1,478 pieces retailing for $199.99 / €199.99 / £179.99, making it the largest and easily the most expensive LEGO Ideas set of the year so far.
Based on the original submission entitled The X-Files: The Truth Is Out, the model is split into two main sections stacked vertically. At the bottom is a detailed recreation of FBI agent Fox Mulder's basement office. The room is enclosed on three sides and filled with furniture, filing cabinets, desks, shelves, paperwork, computer equipment and investigation materials.
The walls are covered with newspaper clippings, photographs and evidence related to paranormal cases. The office has a cluttered appearance, with many small details packed into the space to recreate the look of Mulder's workspace from the television series. The brick-built basement office, built at Minifigure scale, even includes the famous 'I Want To Believe' poster.
Above the office is a forest scene built on a raised landscape. The terrain features various trees, rocks and vegetation arranged around a clearing. Emerging from the forest is a large flying saucer with a smooth, rounded shape, recreating an alien abduction in brick-built LEGO form. The UFO is built as if it's literally about to transfer an alien back into its ship while hovering above the trees to create a dramatic centrepiece for the 18+ model.
While the build is expected to be substantially smaller, with over 500 pieces less than the original submission, hopefully, the Minifigure lineup is still just as exciting and worthwhile. Initially, a total of seven LEGO Minifigures were featured from across The X-Files universe. These included Fox Mulder and Dana Scully in their signature FBI outfits, along with Assistant Director Walter Skinner, The Jersey Devil, Syndicate Leader, the villain Eugene Tooms and a grey alien figure.

21369 The X-Files releases on the 1st of August 2026, but what do you think? Does the split design with Mulder’s basement office and the UFO forest scene feel like a strong LEGO Ideas display build, or would you have preferred a different moment from the series? How does this compare to other LEGO Ideas licensed TV sets like Tintin Moon Rocket or Peanuts: Snoopy’s Doghouse? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
