Racing has never been better in brick-built LEGO form, with the LEGO Speed Champions theme going from strength to strength and the LEGO Super Mario theme delving into Mario Kart. In 2026, another gaming theme will be focusing on one of its racing-themed videogames as two LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog sets are releasing on the 1st of January 2026, both inspired by Sonic Racing CrossWorlds.
77117 Sonic: Speedster Lightning
Just like LEGO Super Mario released a classic Mario Kart car with 72032 Mario Kart - Standard Kart, LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog is also launching a standard yet iconic vehicle of the Speedster Lightning car. The brick-built LEGO version of the Speedster captures the sleek, aerodynamic shaping of the vehicle in its classic blue and white colour scheme, along with a hinged hood which cleverly hides a Chaos Emerald.
