LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog 77117 Sonic's Car: Speedster Lightning Rumoured For January 2026

Following the LEGO Super Mario theme, delving into the franchise's racing series, the LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog line will also focus on the blue hedgehog's high-speed vehicle adventures. In particular, on the 1st of January 2026, a total of two LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog sets will be released based on the recently launched Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds arcade game.

The first of these is the focus of today's article: 77117 Sonic's Car: Speedster Lightning. The 6+ model will be one of the smallest LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog-branded sets yet, with just 126 pieces retailing for $9.99 / €9.99 / £8.99. Therefore, the build will be a small but compact Minifigure-scale version of Sonic's Speedster Lightning car, which is the hedgehog's signature car in the latest Sonic Racing videogame.

The brick-built LEGO version of the Speedster will capture the sleek, aerodynamic shaping of the vehicle in its classic blue and white colour scheme. Red rims are also included on the car, along with a hinged hood which cleverly hides a Chaos Emerald as Sonic sets off on a quest for the Golden Ring. A single LEGO Minifigure of Sonic is also included in the $10 set, and he comes with a mischievous facial expression on his usual specialised headpiece.
