LEGO Pokémon 40887 Ditto as Squirtle: Movie Night GWP Officially Revealed | August 2026

Following the official presentation of all twelve LEGO Pokémon SMART Play August 2026 sets, we now have official images of the third-ever Gift With Purchase for the gaming theme. While it's another highly sought-after Pokémon promotional set, 40887 Ditto as Squirtle: Movie Night also becomes the first LEGO SMART Play GWP.

The 7+ model includes a total of 185 pieces and is reportedly available now with any LEGO Pokémon pre-orders over $130 / €130 / £110. The exclusive Gift With Purchase will likely once again return once all twelve sets are released on the 1st of August 2026. However, these exact dates and thresholds are still to be officially confirmed by the LEGO Group.

The build itself recreates another brick-built, play-friendly Pokémon with space to incorporate the 2x4 LEGO SMART Brick. This time, we get Ditto as Squirtle! While Squirtle is already included in 72156 Trainer's Buggy Adventure with Squirtle, this GWP recreates the character as a brick-built Ditto pretending to be a Squirtle while watching a movie.

Ditto as Squirtle is built primarily out of classic bright blue bricks to replicate Squirtle's shell-less body frame, utilising rounded slopes to give it a soft, organic look. The limbs feature basic articulation joints, making the legs and arms fully posable. Rather than standard Squirtle eyes, however, the face uses an exclusive printed brick depicting Ditto's signature black dot eyes and simple line smile, capturing the look of a transformation mid-state.

The second main build of 40887 Ditto as Squirtle: Movie Night is a retro-style brick-built TV. The screen mechanism allows builders to physically slide tiles out to "change channels" by swapping the displayed graphic on the screen. The TV sits on a small stand that includes functioning cabinet doors. These open up to reveal designated storage slots for a printed remote control and a printed cassette/disc representing the movie.
