October 2024 LEGO Promotional/GWP Set News: Everything We Know

The spookiest season of them all is finally here as the first day of October marks the start of the tenth month of 2024 and one likely to be filled with many brand new LEGO promotional sets and Gift With Purchases. But they aren't the only exciting new releases happening this month as a total of three brand new LEGO themes make their debut today - LEGO Fortnite, Wednesday and Wicked.

To celebrate the release of LEGO's long-awaited physical partnership with Fortnite we see the release of 40728 Brite Bomber as a GWP. This promotional item is available from today but if you wait just a couple more days you'll be able to stack the BrickHeadz model with two more GWPs: 40697 Halloween Pumpkin and 40730 Luke Skywalker's Lightsaber. The latter of these is only available with our final LEGO Star Wars set of 2024 75397 UCS Jabba's Sail Barge.

If previous years are anything to go by, October will be a busy month for promotional items and offers before the busy Christmas period, but here's what we know so far for October 2024's full selection of GWPs:

40728 Brite Bomber

Four LEGO Fortnite sets are now out on shelves but any LEGO purchases will make you entitled to the Gift With Purchase of 40728 Brite Bomber. The only LEGO Fortnite based BrickHeadz so far includes a total of 151 pieces to recreate Brite Bomber - the pink-haired avatar who has long been the face of Fortnite and in that regard LEGO Fortnite too

Brite Bomber has already appeared as a LEGO Minifigure in the upcoming 77073 Battle Bus. She basically appears in the same format in 40728 but as a much larger brick-built figure, along with a shiny silver pickaxe accessory on the usual small black BrickHeadz stand. All of this is available with any LEGO purchases in-store and online over $90 from the 1st until the 7th of October 2024.

Set Name - Brite Bomber

Set Number - 40728

Age Range - 10+

Piece Count - 151

Price - GWP over $90

Release Date - 1st - 7th October 2024

40697 Halloween Pumpkin

October marks the start of spooky season and so it's no surprise that a brand new Halloween-themed GWP will be available during this month. 40697 Halloween Pumpkin is this seasonal promotional item that is available from today and will last until the 14th of October 2024 or whilst stocks last. Similar to 40728 Brite Bomber, it will be available with any purchase but over a slightly higher threshold of $120.

For many brick builders, 40697 Halloween Pumpkin will seem like many LEGO Halloween GWPs from previous years but in fact, 40697 includes a light brick - a highly valued piece in any LEGO set but particularly a promotional item such as this one. The light brick will be included inside the brick-built orange pumpkin which has to be one of the most detailed and beautifully built LEGO pumpkins to date.

The orange pumpkin complete with spooky and sinister eyes, mouth and nose sits on a patch of green grass. The grass isn't very detailed and is mainly made up of a couple of small plates. However, to the model's left sits some autumnal-coloured leaves alongside a simple yet terrifying brick-built white ghost. He, like the pumpkin, includes a sinister-looking face even though it's created using only a couple of simple pieces.

Set Name - Halloween Pumpkin

Set Number - 40697

Age Range - 8+

Piece Count - 254

Price - GWP over $120

Release Date - 1st - 14th October 2024

40730 Luke Skywalker's Lightsaber

75397 Jabba's Sail barge has to be one of the most exciting sets of 2024, even if it is also one of the most expensive and worst for its price-to-piece ratio, Regardless, the 18+ LEGO Star Wars set will release alongside an exclusive GWP of 40730 Luke Skywalker's Lightsaber. This will be available from the 3rd of October 2024 and last until the 7th but only with purchases of the brand new UCS model.

As the name suggests, 40730 is a brick-built recreation of Luke Skywalker's Lightsaber first used from Return of the Jedi onwards. This one is green rather than blue but, in this brick-built LEGO form, the colours of the lightsaber aren't shown as LEGO has captured the actual sabre hilt and all its much smaller, specific details. Along with the actual lightsaber, 40730 also includes a black display stand and a small namplate with the whole lightsaber model measuring 26 cm long and 8 cm in diameter.

Set Name - Luke Skywalker's Lightsaber

Set Number - 40730

Age Range - 18+

Piece Count - 145

Price - GWP of 75397 Jabba's Sail Barge

Release Date - 3rd - 7th October 2024

40698 Reading, Reading, Reading

Our fourth and final GWP currently rumoured for October 2024 is 40698 Reading, Reading, Reading. The original submission is the winning project of the Singles' Day competition back in 2023 by fan artist Fr_An. The LEGO Ideas branded model includes a total of 285 pieces for a currently unknown threshold that we expect to be well over $100 once it starts on the 28th of October 2024.

The main and only build of the set is a large bookshelf placed on a small black diorama display stand. The bookshelf includes plenty of colourful books, all created using a variety of pieces and techniques. A dark blue leader leans against the bookshelf allowing the single Minifigure included in the original idea to access all the books and the trunks and printed globe sat on top of the furniture. A smart wooden desk and a comfy chair are also included in the small, peaceful 18+ scene.
