LEGO Technic fans are set to have another exciting year with six brand-new sets scheduled to launch on the 1st of January 2025. As with every year, these first sets belonging to the advanced LEGO theme are very much entry sets yet they still bring a diverse range of builds. The more exciting and licensed models will then appear in March and the summer including more Formula 1-based models.
Out of the six models rumoured for a 1st of January 2025 release, only one currently has no rumoured set name. Unfortunately, this is also the most expensive and biggest model of the wave including 1,603 pieces for a retail price of $199.99. The 18+ model could be many things but its safe to suggest a highly detailed car, construction vehicle or perhaps even a multi-functional robot.
42197 Backhoe Loader
42197 Backhoe Loader is the typical, small entry-level set of each January wave consisting of 104 pieces for just $9.99. We expect a simplified yet functional digger arm and loader bucket, with minimalistic controls suitable for the youngest of LEGO Technic fans.

42199 Monster Jam DIGatron
42199 Monster Jam DIGatron is the first of two sets in this list to be based on licensed Monster Jam vehicles. Reports suggest that both models will include a pull-back function along with oversized tyres and a heavy-duty chassis typical of monster trucks. The original Monster Jam DIGatron is coloured yellow and black and we expect that to continue with the brick-built LEGO version.

42201 Deep-Sea Research Submarine
42201 Deep-Sea Research Submarine will likely be the most intricate of these smaller sets with 413 pieces included for $36.99.
