LEGO Technic 42240 Aston Martin AMR26 F1 Car Rumoured For July 2026

After a hectic weekend of racing at this year's Canadian Grand Prix, a brand new Formula 1-branded set is now expected to be released this summer as part of the LEGO Group's continued partnership with the global sport. In particular, it's a brand new LEGO Technic F1 set and only our third ever LEGO set based on the ever-present Aston Martin team with 42240 Aston Martin AMR26 F1 Car.

While March's 42228 McLaren MCL39 F1 Car was based on McLaren's title-winning car last year, 42240 recreates Aston Martin's 2026 challenger as part of this season's brand new regulations. The vehicle has a very unique aerodynamic design, masterminded by Adrian Newey and translated into 1,547 LEGO pieces retailing for $229.99 / €209.99 / £189.99 from the 1st of July 2026.

The build itself is in the same 1:8 scale that we've seen with the previously mentioned McLaren team and in past years with Mercedes, Red Bull and Ferrari. This time, however, it's our first LEGO Technic F1 set based on the 2026 regulations. Rather than DRS, hopefully LEGO are able to integrate active aero with an integrated mechanical lever, for example, switching between high downforce and low drag configurations.

The brick-built bodywork for the Formula 1 machinery will be dominated by Aston Martin's signature British racing green and constructed using a broad mixture of LEGO Technic elements to recreate the extreme Aston Martin design and sharply undercut sidepods. Bright lime-green accent lines run along the chassis edges to mimic the real-world livery, broken up by sponsor decals across the whole car, including the front wing, engine cover and side pods.

While the regulations for this season may be drastically different, this brick-built interpretation of the AMR26 will still include the usual play features and functionality. For example, the 18+ model will include both pushrod and pullrod suspension elements, a gearbox, a removable engine cover revealing a brick-built V6 engine and a working steering mechanism connected to the LEGO Aston Martin's two front Pirelli tyres.
