New LEGO theme galore this year as along with the recently announced LEGO Bluey theme, we will also be seeing the release of another brand new license this summer: LEGO ONE PIECE. LEGO, Netflix and Tomorrow Studios announced earlier today that in August we will be seeing the launch of the epic live-action ONE PIECE series in brick-built LEGO form.
ONE PIECE is one of the world's most successful manga series having first started almost 30 years ago back in 1997. The anime series follows the tale of the daring young pirate Monkey D. Luffy who dreams of becoming King of the Pirates. To take the crown, Luffy must find the legendary One Piece treasure while encountering fellow pirates, bounty hunters and corrupt generals. However, on his quest, he also makes plenty of friends including characters like Nami, Roronoa Zoro, Usopp and Sanji who join his crew The Straw Hat Pirates.
In 2023 the series gained further popularity and worldwide coverage as Netflix produced a live-action adaption based on the original anime series. The LEGO set releasing this Summer will be based on this live-action series which received over 71.6 million views in the first four months on the streaming service. The series has been so popular in fact that a highly awaited second live-action series is expected later this year.

"This is a truly special collaboration. For the first time, LEGO play and the exciting world of anime meet. Building the world of ONE PIECE, as depicted in the Netflix live action adaptation, in LEGO brick form has been such an exciting challenge and I couldn't be more excited for fans to experience the new adventures this ONE PIECE collaboration will bring them for the first time," said Lena Dixen, Senior Vice President for Core Businesses at the LEGO Group. "Throughout this project with Netflix and Tomorrow Studios, it has been an exciting, collaborative process, and I think that shows in all the grand adventures we will begin to unveil soon."
“It has been an honor to bring the magnificent world of ONE PIECE to life both on and off the screen. We are excited to collaborate with the LEGO Group, a brand synonymous with creativity and the joy of play, to mark a historic moment as we build out the treasured manga’s adventures in iconic LEGO form for the first time ever,“ said Josh Simon, Vice President of Consumer Products, Netflix. “Through every detail of the design process, we've worked to meticulously create a collection of playsets that will give fans new ways to live out their own epic voyages into the Grand Line one special LEGO brick at a time."
The LEGO ONE PIECE is now official with a currently unknown number of sets releasing for the theme once it makes its debut this summer. LEGO has confirmed though that the licesned theme will include Minifigures featuring some of the main crew in brick-built LEGO form along with iconic settings and action-packed scenes.
