A bunch of LEGO sets releasing on the 1st of June 2024 have been officially revealed today and one of these includes a brand new brick-built chess set. We've had plenty of LEGO chess sets before including 40158 LEGO Pirates Chess Set, 40174 LEGO Iconic Chess set and the LEGO Harry Potter chess set of 76392 Hogwarts Wizard Chess. However, all three are now retired so it's time to make way for a new one with 2024s 40719 Traditional Chess Set.
The LEGO Miscellaneous set of 40719 will include 743 pieces retailing for $74.99 once it releases on the 1st of June 2024. The 9+ set will remain exclusive to LEGO stores and LEGO shop@home but is expected to retire in 2027 giving us brick builders plenty of time to get our hands on this new board game set.
As the official images show, LEGO has gone fully traditional rather than a space or pirate theme spin-off for this latest brick-built chess model. In fact, 40719 includes both brick-built chess pieces and brick-built checkers pieces creating two board games in one set. The board features shiny gold-colored elements, while the queen pieces are topped with minifigure statues making an extremely detailed and realistic chess build.
