LEGO Chinese New Year 2026 40779 Year of the Horse Officially Revealed | 27th December 2025

The last yet also the first LEGO Gift With Purchase has been officially revealed as the yearly promotional item celebrating one of the biggest events of the new year. Chinese New Year is celebrated across the globe with a total of three brick-built LEGO models, already covered here at Bricks Up, releasing on the 1st of January 2026. Alongside these sets, brick-builders will also be able to pick up 40779 Year of the Horse.

Current reports suggest that the 8+ model will be available from the 27th of December to the 18th of January 2026 for a currently unknown threshold. However, the exact dates of the GWP will likely vary from region to region, with the likes of China and parts of Asia having access to 40779 before other areas of the world, such as Europe and America.

40779 Year of the Horse completes the 12-year zodiac animal journey, which started with the Year of the Sheep back in 2015. Similar to this brick-built sheep, 2026's horse has a mainly white body with a brown mane and tail. One of the animal's hoofs is raised while the other three remain firmly planted to the small stand covered with colourful vegetation of flowers and gold coloured leaf elements. The 133-piece Zodiac animal is then complete with the usual large cartoon-like 2x2 round printed eyes.
