2 LEGO Star Wars Smart Play Sets Rumoured For January 2026 | 75421 + 75423

LEGO Smart Play will be the main gimmick in 2026 for the LEGO Group, and so it's no surprise that one of LEGO's best-selling themes will be seeing multiple sets released with the Smart Play technology integrated. The first LEGO Star Wars Smart Play sets are expected to release on the 1st of January 2025, alongside a further eight brand new models which range from the usual brick-built characters and playsets to further 18+ midi-scale starships.

The two LEGO Star Wars Smart Play sets are 75421 Darth Vader's TIE Advanced and 75423 Luke's Red Five X-Wing. Both, even for LEGO Star Wars standards, are expensive, with the latter of the two models including just 584 pieces retailing for $99.99 / €99.99 / £89.99. This is mainly because 2026's version of Luke's iconic Red Five X-Wing will include the Smart Brick, combining lights, sounds, sensors, scannable tags, and wireless charging to create a responsive, hybrid play experience.

The Smart Brick will be located in the rear of the X-Wing, with the rest of the build being very similar to previous brick-built interpretations of the ship. The signature red and white colour scheme is obviously included along with a couple of stud shooters, rotating engines and what could possibly be a brand new cockpit piece. Luke Skywalker should be included as a Minifigure along with R2-D2, with both characters possibly being compatible with the Smart Brick.

The smaller of the two sets, meanwhile, recreates Darth Vader's iconic black TIE Advanced starfighter in a similar kid-friendly scale. With a slightly lower retail price of $69.99 / €69.99 / £59.99, it's unknown whether or not another Smart Brick will be included with 75421 or if it will just include compatible Minifigures and elements within the build to be combined with 75423. Either way, the sleek, angular cockpit of the TIE Advanced will have enough room for the ever-present Darth Vader LEGO Minifigure.
