The LEGO Icons theme has many subthemes and one of the most popular amongst adult LEGO fans is the brick-built vehicles subtheme. This range of sets will be expanding even further as the long-rumoured 10317 Land Rover Classic Defender 90 is finally here thanks to an official reveal by LEGO earlier today. Once the set releases on 4th April 2023 it will celebrate Land Rover's 75th anniversary with this 18+ model
Following on from the most recent set in the subtheme 10304 Chevrolet Camaro Z28, the Land Rover is based on the 1983 version rather than the more modern models. The somewhat angular construction of the original model has translated well into LEGO form with a sand green colour scheme for most of the build apart from the roof and the accessories included with the vehicle.
These accessories include many different things aimed for adventures off road including the likes of a fire extinguisher, jerry cans, a toolbox, a working winch, mudguards and traction plates. All of these accessories can either be placed on top of the land rover, inside the detailed interior or just hanging off the car like a true explorer.
Like many of the previous 18+ LEGO car models, there are many other functions allowing the moveability of the Land Rover. This included functional steering, a working suspension and a choice of two brick-built engines to further allow different designs for the $240 set. And not only that but the doors can open along with the hood allowing access to many parts of the 2,336 pieces that go into the 18+ model.
