With the hotly anticipated D2C set of 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank - Collectors' Edition now being available to purchase, it's time to look at what's happening with the retirement of some of our beloved older sets from the LEGO Harry Potter theme.
We've got information covering all sets on the market for the LEGO Harry Potter theme, covering the years up to 2025. Remember that this information is likely to change as new sets hit shelves on 1st March 2024 and sales continue to increase or decrease. However, we can say that most of the LEGO Harry Potter sets released in 2021 will definitely have retired at the end of 2024 to make way for even more Harry Potter-themed models.
Any LEGO Harry Potter D2C sets like 75978 Diagon Alley and 76405 Hogwarts Express - Collectors' Edition tend to stick around longer than your average LEGO set. But due to them being Direct to Consumer (D2C) sets, there usually much harder to acquire in the first place and will therefore go for a hefty amount of money on second-hand online marketplaces such as Ebay.

While this list provides a rough outline of LEGO's retirement strategy for Harry Potter sets, always keep an out for changes and updates throughout the year. LEGO themselves will chop and change models in an extremely short period of time so our advice is to purchase a set whilst you can. But luckily plenty more sets will be coming next year so be ready to splash the cash on even more LEGO sets.
