LEGO Indiana Jones isn't the only returning LEGO theme as Promobricks.de are reporting that LEGO Lord of the Rings will return in 2023. However, currently only two sets are confirmed for the theme with both being LEGO Brickheadz. These are 40630 Frodo & Gollum and 40631 Balrog & Gandalf which will both release on 1st January 2023.
40630 Frodo & Gollum will retail for $14.99, $5 less than 40631 Balrog & Gandalf due to the size of Gollum. Both sets currently have no piece counts but it's likely they'll be around the 100-200 mark. More Brickheadz based on Lord of the Rings may be coming later in 2023 but only 40630 and 40631 will be coming in the first half of 2023.
However, there is some disappointing news as, similar to this year's Stranger Things Brickheadz, it'll likely be just a standalone set. No actual playsets are rumoured for the returning theme in 2023 but there is a likely chance of a large D2C set coming around the Summer of 2023.
