It's that time of the year again, after its debut year during another pandemic ruined year of 2021, LEGO CON is returning for 2022. This year's virtual event will take place on Saturday the 18th June at the exact times as last year of 5 pm in London, 12 pm in New York and 9 am in Los Angeles. It'll also once again be streamed on the official LEGO Website and LEGO's YouTube channel and will remain on both platforms after the stream.
Last years first-ever LEGO CON was an exciting idea but was badly executed with many cringe moments and little set reveals. These were all stupidly revealed by LEGO the week before but with the show taking place a week earlier, hopefully, we won't be spoiled. And LEGO themselves have stressed that set reveals will take place during the show.
The two-hour show will mainly include those set reveals along with the latest news from inside of the LEGO company and take us behind the scenes. This should include more of LEGO's environmental plans along with the introduction of its new paper bags. These will soon appear in sets later this year so hopefully, LEGO will show us all their plans to make a greener world.
The behind the scenes section will most likely be similar to last year with interviews with employees and a look at LEGO House. Master builds, celebrities, actors and more will be interviewed throughout the show including someone from the Harry Potter franchise. This special wizard or witch is also likely to take us on a tour of the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London - The Making of Harry Potter
LEGO has also teased a brand new partnership that will be revealed. This is likely to be the long-rumoured Avatar theme with the creators of Avatar also hyping up the show. However, they'll also be already existing LEGO themes like LEGO Brickheadz, LEGO Friends, LEGO Marvel, LEGO Minecraft, LEGO Minifigures, LEGO Ninjago, LEGO Star Wars, LEGO Super Mario and much more.
This doesn't guarantee that all these themes will get sets revealed based on them, but they will at least appear during the show. And it's likely that any sets releasing in August will at least be revealed or mentioned. Some of these will be from themes like LEGO Minecraft, LEGO Harry Potter and LEGO Star Wars which are basically confirmed to be revealed thanks to the official information page about LEGO CON.
And finally, LEGO has confirmed that it will be kicking off its 90th Anniversary celebrations with a look at some classic LEGO builds throughout the year. We may even get a comparison to the recent new 90th Anniversary sets along with the big 10305 Lion King's Castle. Hopefully, this will be revealed along with its exclusive promo but we'll just have to wait and see on 18th June 2022...
